Portia Brings Ops Expertise To Lincoln College Commercial Team
More than 15 years’ experience within events and operations and a background in both music venues and hospitality mean that Lincoln College’s newest addition, Commercial Operations Manager, Portia Batten is poised to succeed.
Having worked across the world in a number of roles, including for local venues, live event organisers and in commercial roles, Portia has leapt at the chance to pursue a role here at the College, overseeing the Not For Profit restaurant, The Old Bakery and the College’s live music and entertainment venue, The Drill.
As well as this, Portia, who lives locally, will also be overseeing commercial ventures within Lincoln College itself.
Portia says: “I’m excited to be involved with such a varied range of projects within the College. There’s a lot of crossover, particularly between The Drill and The Old Bakery and I’m working with the teams to come up with new ideas to take both venues forward.
“I’m keen on promoting our links with local suppliers for The Old Bakery and further showcasing what the restaurant has to offer.
"Having spent the last few years of my career emersed in live entertainment I see great potential in The Drill and I'm excited to see the upcoming gigs and corporate bookings come to fruition."
Portia is also passionate about bringing learners into both settings, she adds: “To have our learners experience day to day life in operating venues is incredible.
"To have real life experience on your CV as well as a qualification is a huge advantage getting into the industry.”
