Ever wanted to see what a vegan menu can really deliver? Then join us for our next meat and cruelty-free taster evening ‘Earth To Plate’.
As you know, we’re committed deeply to our food provenance here at The Old Bakery, so we wanted to showcase what Lincolnshire’s produce could create on an entirely vegan menu.
According to polls by YouGov and Statista, around 2-3% of the UK population is now vegan, so offering something inclusive at the restaurant is really important to us.
Made without, meat, fish, or dairy products, or indeed anything that causes harm or uses animal products, our menu is intended to be an absolute treat for vegans and a chance to sample something delicious for those curious. “We’re thrilled to showcase our partnership with Fresh From The Fields, a family-run greengrocer dedicated to providing fresh, locally sourced produce to our community, located just a stone's throw away. This collaboration allows us to highlight the incredible variety of seasonal ingredients available, demonstrating just how delicious and satisfying plant-based dishes can truly be,” says chef Phil.
Starting with a truffled oyster mushroom, served with a walnut ketchup and cherry reduction, we are setting the scene with some seriously tempting local produce.
Following this with charred leek with confit garlic and hazelnuts, it’s a sensory banquet for sure.
Miso Tofu makes up the next course, it’s Asian-inspired flavours chiming with the accompanying laksa and pickled vegetables, before a curry spiced cauliflower drops some spice into the proceedings, backed by a subtle lentil and raisin dahl and a piquant mango chutney.
To round off this culinary journey, we are offering a duo of sweet options. Firstly, a rum-poached pineapple, served with a coconut sorbet, coconut crisps and rum caramel. Finally, a deeply decadent dark chocolate parfait rounds off proceedings, served with pistachios, apricots and sweet honeycomb.
